Softball runs win streak to three with pair of WCAC victories

The Cardinals extended their winning streak to 3 games and evened their 2012 record at 8-8 by winning both of their games this week.

On Monday they used both the long ball and precise hitting to score 20 runs as they defeated St Mary’s Ryken 20-12.  Kathleen Walsh, Katie Kiesner, Micki Crouch, Heather Pearson, Debbie Ward and Megan Sullivan had  multi hit games. Sophmores Susie Rhodes and Heather Pearson stroked home runs, Pearson’s a grand slam.  Maria Manzek laid down a flawless bunt on a safety squeeze to plate Emily Quinn, sprinting home from 3rd.  Micki Crouch and
Susie Rhodes combined for 7 strikeouts from the pitching circle.

Strong pitching from Micki Crouch was the story on Thursday as she struck out 9 on her way to shutting out the Cadets of St. John’s 11-0.  Crouch also pounded out a home run.  Heather Pearson drove in 4 runs on 3 hits and senior Katie Keisner enjoyed her third consecutive multi-hit game.  “We are on a bit of a roll right now, but need to play consistently well over the last two weeks of the regular season as we face the toughest part of our schedule,” remarked head coach Terri Pearson.

The Cardinals face Holy Cross at home on Monday, host cross town rival St Stephens/St Agnes on Tuesday, and then travel to Elizabeth Seton on Wednesday.
